The Silksong Compendium
My (mostly) blind first playthrough through Hollow Knight Silksong
Published on Thursday, May 28, 2026
Content Warning!
Spoilers! This blogpost will spoil pretty much everything with Silksong. I describe in detail everything I found in the game, which includes every little secret right up to the end of it.
Foreword
Welcome! This extremely long blogpost details every single thing I wrote down or took a screenshot of on my first playthrough of Hollow Knight Silksong. There's a lot to cover, but first, let's go over a few things.
Playthrough Details
My first playthrough of Silksong was almost completely blind. I purchased the game on release, and then I ignored all media from anyone making videos or articles on it. With this, I played through the game and got to 94% completion with only 2 Hollow Knight Wiki reads.
After I got to 94% completion and beat Lost Lace, I ultimately decided that I would get to 100% completion with the help of the wiki. Thus, my last 6% of completion, which includes everything starting from March, was assisted. I only used the wiki for assistance, I did not watch any sort of videos.
How Everything is Presented
Every day I played Silksong is presented as its own section inside the Post Archive. Each section includes all posts from that day, all screenshots from that day, and extra commentary from me writing this right now.
Extra commentary looks like this!
Each post is delimited with a horizontal line underneath, unless it is the only post of the day or if it is a multi-part post.
With all that covered, let's proceed to the Post Archive.
The Post Archive
2025-09-04: Release Day
I'm gonna skip over the first few posts where I detail me purchasing the game and not playing it for 6 hours.

Ready to begin my adventure.
IT'S!! SILKSONG!! TIME!!
In the first days of me playing Silksong, I took a lot of screenshots but didn't post too much. So it'll be a lot of screenshots before we reach the next bit of text I wrote at the time.

No way, it's fun text just like the original!

Begin Act 1.

At this time I would've been like "holy shit I'm playing Silksong!" So literally everything is interesting enough for a screenshot.

First thing I did was go right :p

The first area!

I sure was curious about what this was... only to forget about it for far too long.

I forgot that she limped around injured at this part. The injury sequences must not have been that long.

Wow! My first bench!

Sit :3

The timestamps say this took only a minute. Wow. First boss down!

Wow! An NPC!

Yeah I screenshotted way too many lines early on.

Off to the Main Quest I go!
At the time of being told of the Great Citadel, I think my idea was that it would look like Godhome. I wasn't too far off.

I made it to Bone Bottom!

I don't think I paid enough attention to this line because it surprised me when I defeated the bell beast and got access to fast travel. Oh well.

Wishwall! Soon I will discover the quest system, one of my favorite new parts of the game...

Meeting Sherma for the first time.
I was semi-spoiled (moreso by promotional material) that Sherma would be a character I'd meet in Silksong. Years before, I presumed that he would be Silksong's answer to Quirrel, my favorite character from the original, so I was anticipating a peak character from him. When I started, that need waned a little as I had changed, but I still held out some hope. Ultimately, he's ok. No Quirrel, but he is a lovable little guy.

Trying to manifest the feeling of peak from Sherma

The start of the "pilgrimage".
One of the really cool things about Silksong is it's worldbuilding around Pharloom's fucked up hierarchical society. It's interesting to look at something like even this sign and think "hold our kingdom's weight? Wow, the sign only considers the Citadel to be the true part of the kingdom, disposing of the rest of the parts which are just as essential. Ouch."
Silksong is absolute cinema so far
Things I really like:
- Hornet talks! She has dialogue! It's much more interesting tbh
- Pogoing off stuff is hard but fun
- Ledge grabs are peam
Things that will probably irk me until I get used to them:
- The hp restore restores multiple hp at once and takes a while to replenish so I'm going to be going around at not full hp most of the time

Hopped off for like 2 hours then came back. Welcome to the Marrow.

Meeting Shakra for the first time
Unlike Sherma, I think Shakra really stood out to me and became my favorite character. Perhaps it's because she just appeals to me more because of how I've changed :333 (i would accept kisses and perhaps more
)

Shakra tells her name

Lore sign... that also happens to say "favour" with a u

The first Weaver Burial Spire

I got the Silkspear! A silk skill!
Much like in the original Hollow Knight with spells, I kinda neglected to really use Silk Skills throughout the game, at least right up until the very end. I mainly stuck with my needle and weapon tools

The Moss Druid

A memory that gave me an ability that I forgot...

Just before collecting that mysterious ability...

Welcome to the Deep Docks.
2025-09-05: Through the Deep Docks

Just paid for the Deep Docks stop

Finally! Fast Movement!
I thought the running was a really cool solution to the fast movement problem. Instead of continuously dashing, you can just run! It was awesome to see Hornet running for the first time. Too bad it is apparently still not the fastest way to go...

I suppose this sign was in an interesting place...

Lace!

I killed her first try :3
It was interesting seeing Lace here for the first time. All I wondered after defeating her was when she and Hornet would do the yuri
2025-09-06: Getting Stuck in Greymoor

Shakra in the Far Fields

A mysterious imposing machine...

New fit

Holy shit the big thing in the background is a boss and wants to kill me, gotta lock in!

The sign just outside Pilgrim's Rest.

Waow he's at pilgrim's rest too
One time (not the first time) that I entered the structure here, I went right and the door immediately closed behind me as I unintentionally exited. That pissed me off.

Welcome to Greymoor!
At first, I thought Greymoor would be this game's equivalent to the City of Tears, what with the rain and atmosphere and stuff. Turns out, it's miserable!

Meeting Garmond and Zaza for the first time
These two are pretty neat. And they join just in time for the most painful boss so far, the Moorwing. I couldn't beat it this day, it was just too hard. At the very least, these two were here to accompany me.
2025-09-08: Conquering

Shakra in the Hunter's March

A mysterious statue...

The NPC who I completely forgot about tbh

My first great victory today, after several tries!

My first Crest! I thought these would be a little more important than they ended up being.

Getting the Beast Crest and seeing what it does

Meeting Nuu for the first time

Moorwing Down!

Celebrating the defeat

Haha, fuck you!
The Moorwing was my first great challenge with this game. It took so many tries for me to kill it for the first time. Definitely a tough barrier to conquer, with it being the first boss that does 2 HP per hit.

What's over here...?

Nope.
I love playing Silksong at a reasonable pace, I love only just now discovering the bell town after dying to the flying fuck bug that does 2 damage per hit 20 times
2025-09-09: Let's Explore Shellwood!

I will hate you later

*Birth*
Before Greyroot became "that fucking thing that I hate", I just called them "birth lady" because of how they spoke about birth

Shakra!!! :3333

Can't tell what it says because I can't song my silk yet

Sister Splinter down!
I feel like defeating Sister Splinter was the point where I got used to the heavy hitting bosses for the first time. She didn't take me nearly as long as the Moorwing.
I cant fucking believe naked Hornet is real and a part of the most significant change-up so far in the game, wtf
Also just before I did the boss to get the wall jump and yeah she was much less of a hassle than the last 2 two-hp-per-hit bosses, I think its because I'm actually learning how to read boss patterns and use tools and shit and not just going in and attacking willy nilly
Who could've thought that getting good makes bosses easier (or maybe the boss was just easier anyways, idk she sure seemed objectively harder than the big version of horizontal flying bug that also does 2 hp per hit)
2025-09-11: Taking a Brief Detour in Prison

Naked Hornet got real...

She still looks kinda cursed tbh

Hope you enjoyed naked Hornet because that's the last of her!

No more nudity!

Sure, one of the fleas's advice I guess

Shakra! By Bone Bottom!
Wow. Hornet is smelling a creature's shit to track it down and kill it. This is why it took Team Cherry 8 years to finish Silksong.
And after she gets naked too...
Also Shakra is my favorite rn. Shoutouts to Shakra. Poshanka :3
2025-09-12: Ok Fine I'll Save Bellhart

Shakra but she's in the Wormways.
I honestly forgot I got to the Wormways this early. Then again, it was just the upper part before the big door.

Huh, so nothing's stopping Hornet from walking out but her thoughts...

Wait another weaver looking bug???

I can song my silk!? (worth it after dying a few times to Widow)
I was spoiled that there was an action called "Needolin" when I first started playing because I explored the settings, but I did not know what it did until here.

Lore...

Waow the needolin is just like the dream nail!
Today I decided to free the bell town. The boss there was funny because she's the first two-phase boss, which I happily discovered after beating the first phase first try then dying several times to the second phase. but hey at least I can song my silk now :3
And then I found the little guy that plays music and if you song your silk next to him he plays his little music with you and its adorable!!
2025-09-15: Explore Shellwood and Bellhart a bit more

Ooo, songed-silk sign :3c

This guy causes me many issues later on...

Activating the bell bench (in Shellwood?)
You can tell from the upcoming dates that starting from now my initial phase of "holy shit I gotta play Silksong" has ended. I will start doing only occasional playthroughs every once in a while from here on out. However, I will also start writing more detailed posts about my playthrough. So there is a shift in how I play...
2025-09-28: The End of Act I

Trouble in Bone Bottom (which I fixed quickly)
Oh yeah I think I collected a mask shard in between the last thing and this, so I have 6 health now. Yay!

Shakra! In those Blasted Steps!

A bug with dice...

Proceeding to gambling!
I never actually won against Lumble. I played against him twice and both times I lost.

The Pinstress (she's cooler cause she's blue)

Training!

Hi Sherma :3
I didn't post anything at the time but between the previous and next images there's a 30 minute gap. All of that gap is me battling Lost Judge over and over again. The upcoming post and context will tell you about it.

Finally killed the fuck.

Welcome to the Citadel, Hornet.

Begin Act 2.

Yep. That's the citadel alright.
Wow they added gambling to silksong!!
Also I once again got bodied, thanks last judge I sure liked getting stomped on, bell smacked, and more for like 30 times
And I also discovered that songing your silk next to NPCs will make them sing sometimes
Finally waow Act 2 I finally made it :3
More on the Last Judge, goodness me they were hard. Fair enough, they are basically the gate to Act 2, but of all the bosses I beat they were second only to Lost Lace in terms of number of attempts to beat. Seriously. Their fire attacks just kept bodying me and I could not focus enough to slay them. After 10 attempts is when I start to get nervous getting far into a fight, which is a problem that I thankfully never faced too much.
2025-10-06: Welcome to the Citadel!

Wow I guess I might die
I thought that there would be a small chance I would straight up just fucking die whenever I used the Ventrica for a bit after reading this. That would be quite funny, if not super frustrating.

Looking Out

Oh hi Lace!

Thanks for your words Lace anyways when yuri

Ok I'm at a loss as to why I took this screenshot...

Hornet finally gets a damn shower

Oh hey it's that guy
I didn't take a screenshot of Hornet slapping him in time... but I did capture a different Hornet slap! Later though...

Cogwork Dancers down First Try!
If there's one boss that stood out to me, it's the Cogwork Dancers. I'm amazed I defeated them first try, I got to 1 HP several times. More on them later.

Time to run around the Citadel...
Wow hornet just slapped the little thief bug after he tried to take her stuff that was hilarious
Also damn Clockwork Dancers contender for coolest boss? They weren't too hard but it was an experience fighting them
(I did play once in between the last post and today, I just didn't find anything that interesting. it was just exploring around the citadel then finding the geographical connection to the slab)
First off, even after slight edits idk why I was writing such bad English that day. Probably a case of the big eepy
Second, yeah I gotta talk about the Cogwork (Not Clockwork) Dancers. Out of all the bosses that I played through they stood out the most as being a potential favorite, so I guess by default they are. I guess I do have another candidate for favorite, but that'll be covered later. (EDIT EDIT DEBUG NOTE REMOVE ME LATER: it's the king of crust at the top of coral tower) I'm not sure why I latched onto them so much, but I suspect it was a combo of me beating them first try, them providing a fair fight, and them being a mechanically really distinct fight. I mean you gotta time your attacks to their synced movement, and you gotta pay attention to the two of them both at the same time in order to know where is the safe spot. It scratches the same itch as the Mantis Lords from the original, and the Mantis Lords were one of my favorites there.
2025-10-08: A Reason to Leave the Citadel

What's your business?

Wait holy shit you got oil gimme gimme gimme

Haii

SLAP!
Soon after this I figured out how to get to Sinner's Road...

Welcome to Louisiana
she did the slap again waow (this time it was to the creature who asked for all the hunter journal entries) (to clarify the slap is funny because they really just made an animation for like 2 instances)
also aw hell nah i found louisiana (i immediately left louisiana after finding the lost bug in there)
but finally wtf. after finding the bug in louisiana i go to him in the bell town and he offers a piece of the side quest. cool! but oh no its a "courier journey" so basically its flower quest except i can get hit and not immediately lose it except now there's a time limit. EXCEPT of course the destination was the citadel, the place where i entered via broken elevator. i couldnt get back into the citadel without the broken elevator or funny big bell bug, so i couldnt complete the mission. grrrrrrr :neocat_angry: how dare you give me an impossible quest
and ofc bc i operate without thinking too hard i walk all the way up to the grand gate thinking id find a way up
at least now i know how long ill have in the citadel until the meat expires
At this point I have decided to stop reformatting the original posts. Considering that as I write this it has been two months since I started making this collection, anything that makes writing this easier is useful.
Also, you've already seen me start to call Sinner's Road "Louisiana." The reason for this is that I saw a post before getting there describing an area with muckmaggot filled water as Louisiana. I didn't realize it at the time, but there were more areas with this water. I would then proceed to name those areas similarly. You'll find out soon enough :3c
2025-10-10: A Tale of Two Areas

Time to fight ants...

There were *ants* down there...

Hornet is a weirdo

"Are you my enemy?"
Twelfth Architect ended up being one of my favorite characters from this game, for no other reason aside from "it is a friendly robot" and "it calls me bug-red and i really like that for some reason"
2025-10-11: Hey, so you know that boss you really struggled with? Here they are again!

Posha-ing my ka in Bellhart :3

Fucker down!
got to fight the fuck that is the savage beastfly again... one may think that it'd be easier since i know its patterns... no
the fucker decides to exist in the super lava zone where there's platforms that get sunk in the lava and it invites its evil friends who shoot the 2 damage projectile that sticks to the grouns for a few seconds
the result? i can get comboed and take 3 2-hits in like 3 seconds, going from full health to dead almost instantly (which was painful)
thankfully i just had to not panic and really observe where everything was, and i was able to pull it off. yippee!
afterwards i went and found this cool cave section! so i entered a very deep and dark cave with many hard to see platforms. i slowly went down into its depths until i reached a battle room. oh no! i had lost some health on the way. thankfully, i survived (even with the awful creatures from the bossfight rearing their ugly heads again), but then the really cool part happened
it was a chase sequence! i had to climb back up to the top before the lava caught up. it was exhilirating! and somehow, i made it up despite getting hit from an evil projectile by the awful creature. one more hit or lava fall would've killed me! but it was worth it, because there was a mask shard at the end :3 only one to go before i hit 7 hp and thus can take 1 extra 2-hit before dying!
oh yeah i also played yesterday but there wasn't too much. i got the hook skill and went through the creepy medical zone (where hornet almost got cremated!!! :3)
Now that I think about it the Savage Beastfly, in both matches, really gave me more trouble than 90% of the other bosses in the game...
Also that lava section was easily one of the coolest thinking back on the game. Very Metroid-core...
2025-10-12: The Vault

the Vaultkeeper: "Collect my Cylinders"
I don't remember much more about this day apart from the fact that the Whispering Vaults were very labyrinthine and that there was still a lot of secrets I either didn't find or couldn't get to just yet. ...mainly because I didn't find the map...
2025-10-13: Time With My Favorites

Shakra's got a map

Songing my Silk with Shakra

Bug-Red
2025-10-16: Ascending the Clocks
The platforming up to the final part wasn't too interesting, as the Reaper Crest just made things 4x easier. The puzzle was a bit harder, but I managed to figure it out after a few minutes.

Stringing for the Mechanical Crowd

More of them
2025-10-17: Let's Smack Lace in the Face, Again!

Hello, Lace.

Lace is... Silk?
Smacking Lace in the face a second time amazingly also didn't take me too long.

Oh there you are.
went ahead and smacked lace in the face again, idk how i did it 3rd try but i did. i smells the end of the game that way so instead of continuing upwards i went back down
and where better to go than to complete the louisiana sidequest. well turns out there's louisiana... 2. yeah its got the same parasite infested water but its darker and sadder, except i thought i found a deep dark hidden town at first (but it wasnt)
i spent way too long finding a functional bench but i did! and with a bell stop too! right at the edge of mississippi (louisiana 2)
(yeah i mightve skipped the part where i got the other melodies. erm. idk it wasnt that interesting. only thing is that i never found the map to the vault and im pissed because its just a void in the map and until i go back thats how its gonna be)
My first adventure through Bilewater ("Mississippi") was probably one of the most surreal experiences I had, and this was all I wrote about it. It was honestly kinda terrifying, going through such a dangerous, mysterious area with the nearest bench I knew of all the way back at the start of Sinner's Road. I expected a town... what I got was wilderness. Despite all that, I persevered, and barely scraped by to make it to the bell station. I would explore the area to the left afterwards, instantly being confused.
2025-10-19: Confusion

I guess I did the Flea Caravan again.
i went ahead and explored the mysterious land of no direction for a long while. The creatures there were scary at first but once i realized they were some of the easiest to cheese (with my crest, the reaper), i didnt care. I still have no clue if there's actually anything there tbh
Aside from that I ran around for a while. Idk i don't really wanna smack what i think is the final boss in the face rn. But there's one question i need to ask:
Where the hell is the double jump?
As in, this game's equivalent of the monarch wings. There's like 5 areas i've found that need this, and they're like the only 5 areas which i don't seem to have explored. If anyone is reading this a hint would be appreciated (I don't want to just look at the wiki and see).
Only other things I know of that i haven't experienced are the wormways, the deep docks diving bell, and the boss at the bottom of the whiteward who i dont wanna fight because i have to call up the elevator and ride it down every time i want to do so
Also I finally found out what was in the bone bottom room that i thought needed both double jump & hook. Well no: turns out it was accessible from above the whole time and just had a few rosaries. Lake disappointment ass room.
Once again a hint as to where the double jump is would be appreciated :neocat_pleading:
Guess who forgot the area left of The Slab at the time... Also, The Mist remained a huge mystery for me for a long while. I would occasionally go there to try and crack the mystery, but it'd be a long time before I finally figured it out. For now, it remains as "the mysterious land of no direction"
2025-10-26: Smacking the Final Boss in the Face

Yeeeep that's the final boss alright

Yay I won and it only took me three tries
This second screenshot here came almost exactly 10 minutes after the last.

I Silked my Song.

Wait where's the completion percentage?
I decided to play a bit more today.

I suppose there is still new stuff to find...

With a job well done, Hornet can eep now.
ok so yeah as the spoiler suggests my suspicions were right, that area i found was the final boss area. i thought it'd take more tries but it only took 3 tries (i did nearly die tho)
so then i wandered around for a while bc i still dont know where the double jump is. i went to bellhart and got the bellhome, and waow, hornet was eepy
most importantly, however, i realized that in the cold mountain zone there was a second hook ring; i could've explored there the whole time (i thought i needed the double jump to get in). its platforming hell but i highly suspect that the double jump is at the top. i mean its literally celeste if the double jump wasn't at the top i'd be confused; gonna see if it is next time i play
2025-10-27: Literally Celeste

What am I summoning?

Holy shit it's the double jump!
Getting this was exciting, as I could do so much more exploration now. Then again, as I think about it, it is kinda disappointing that the only upgrades to Hornet's cloak are this and the floating ability. It would've been cool to have different cloaks she could buy that could just affect some stats, though then again they'd probably have to look identical and it'd be weird to buy a cloak before this upgrade and then receive it when canonically it wasn't applied to that cloak. (this probably could've been solved by having a store only be accessible with the double jump. hell, there is already one of those.)

Hello Pharloom Mask Maker
Sliding down the slopes of Mount Fay is pretty fun tbh.
2025-10-28: Double Jumping in the Citadel

Aging millenial gamer: Woah, this flea is a heckimg chonker!

The second sentinel is WOKE! hell yeah :3
At an unknown point after this, I did the courier meat mission. Now that I had the double jump, I could get back to the Citadel without having to use the bellways. I successfully got the meat to the bug.
2025-10-31: Uh oh

This is a bad omen.
After this, while I went back at first, I later proceeded onwards. The fact that I didn't find a bench nearby made me nervous, but having survived Bilewater before, I knew I could make it. Then I found the fucker, Groal the Great (whose name i forgot until I looked it up just now) and they just fucking destroyed me several times over. This was the only time I felt like the game was really leaning into unfairness, as the combination of the 5 minute long walkback and the enemy gauntlet before the boss made fighting them a chore. I had to come up with a clever new strategy to beat the boss, which was quite fun. Little did I know though that my pain could've been lessened thanks to a bench much closer to the arena. I wouldn't know of it until much later, however.
2025-11-04: I didn't Screenshot Anything of Interest!

🤨

Oil acquired
Yeah so at some point before this I must've made it to the Sands of Karak and the one area in Sinner's Road. I can see why I didn't screenshot the Sinner's Road area with Chef Lugoli (I was too busy locking in and beating them first try), but I'm amazed that I didn't screenshot my first entry into the Sands of Karak. I remember being like "wow! new area" when I found it, so why didn't I screenshot?
2025-11-05: Approaching Conclusions

Back to the mountain I went but this time it was easier

Does this remind you of anything?

Plinney: Thanks for the lore dump but what the fuck is a hive

Glad to spend a moment with Shakra, even if it is a sad one.

Stringing to pay respects
more silksong time! it's been a while so lots has happened
i did find the double jump at the top of the mountain and it was cool as fuck, and yippee now i can access a whole bunch of new places. and so i did. i went and found the "zoo", the high hall room of disappointment, the place where you wake up the mechanical bug (who is an awesome character but unfortunately i think some thumbnails ive accidentally seen spoiled their arc) and ofc i went back to mississippi to get the map.
afterwards i did a few courier runs. i did the meat (as well as the other of the last 3 ingredients for the chef) and i also did the queen's egg and the white liquid of unknown substance to the mask maker on the mountain
mississippi as it turns out is much larger than i thought. like seriously its huge! its bigger than louisiana (i think i shouldve considered swapping them around). i was afraid to go so deep into it because there were like no benches there but eventually i did venture deep when i got shakra's quest, which was nice.
now what's not nice was the big flying fuck at the top of mississippi. this fuck has the gall to demand you walk your ass for 5 minutes every time you die to him, and then also do an enemy rush before you can refight him every time. i was really getting pissed off by the 5th time i died to him and i almost died again but i beat him. yay! now i have a mystery item and access to a new area :3 (i used a neat strategy for this: i used venomed ant boomerangs to deal tons of damage)
ive been discovering a lot of new areas it seems. there is a lot more to the game than i thought bc i thought i got to like 80% of it NO there's like much more. which is awesome! been a while since ive played such an expansive adventure that truly challenges me
2025-11-06: The Missing Key, now Found
ok so in the small area you can get to after killing the big flying fuck there's the key of apostate. what was blud doing all the way over there
anyways i was wondering where that was and im happy i found it :3 so i went back to the prison!! and deep in the rooms which that key unlocks i found a cool boss
i found the cage they were in and i was like "hmmm this looks like it'll unleash a boss as soon as i open it... welp. fortune favors the bold!" and i unlocked it. then i saw the weaver binding thing and i thought "maybe not a boss?"
...and then it was boss time. the first sinner destroyed me the first few attempts, and i immediately knew it was going to be a tough fight. especially since the game boots you to just outside the cage with your silk already restored. that's too kind of silksong to do.
however, somehow, on the 5th or so attempt, idk what happened but ig i locked the fuck in. somehow, despite this being the first attempt where i stunned the boss, i managed to beat them. i did the entire second phase the first try. i have no clue how that was possible, but somehow i did it!
the reward was a silk skill. i almost never use the silk skills.
Honestly the way I locked the fuck in for the First Sinner was probably one of my best moments in this playthrough. Like holy shit how did I do them first try.
The area above Bilewater will remain a mystery for a little while.
2025-11-08: I Genuinely Forgot What I Did on This Day

What do you sing?

Was that the Second Sentinel? :eyes:
At an unknown point after this day and presumably before Nov. 15, I found the Wisp Thicket. I honestly wonder how I found it, but it was pretty cool nonetheless. I proceeded to beat the boss and go through all of the lower parts of the area.
2025-11-13: This Thing Down There

What are you?
The way I found Weavenest Atla was quite funny. I was just looking at my map when I saw the gate in the moss grotto, and when I saw it I was like "damn how did I miss that"
2025-11-15: The Secret of The Mist
On this day, I decided to go to the Mist again...

A mysterious new room...
Having only seen this room once before, I decided to pay closer attention to what was around. I noticed the bright bugs near me, and decided to needolin. They then led the way to a big new structure...

LACE? What are YOU doing here?
My shock at finding this area was immense. Thankfully, the boss didn't surprise me too much.
so ive been wandering around a bit more and i found some real interesting stuffs:
I found this obscure very hidden little area above Greymoor, the "wisp thicket". they like fire there. not much there tho just a single lame boss (who i cheesed thanks to being overpowered & having double jumps, tho i still died once). was nice knowing something was in that gap of the map
I looked at my map and noticed a weaver nest right at the start of the game. idk how i missed that but i went there. yeah turns out that that's one of the 2 mysterious areas which i lacked maps for (actually, there's still 2 mysterious areas, more on that later). i found the strange creature who upgraded a crest (not my main crest grrrrrr) and gave me a free extra slot (yay :3) and i found a few other little secrets in there. a nice peaceful area :3
Holy shit i solved the mystery of The Mist! So i went there because i didn't know where else to look, and as I wandered around aimlessly as usual I stumbled upon a long featureless room. This had me looking closely to see what I had done differently. Eventually I noticed the little glowy bugs were going in a direction, so I followed them. I went into another usual room and thought that if i killed all the wraiths they'd lead me somewhere. Turns out you can't do that so then i songed my silk and they led me right to a new area and... what. the bug i didn't recognize from the steam cards?? the completion of an alternate route to the citadel?? lace in a needolin apparition?? so many questions... and then i noticed the mist is just gone now lmao. i just turned off the mist :neocat_googly_woozy:
perhaps i shall uncover more secrets later...
2025-11-16: Going Above, Part 1

Thanks for the tool...
I wouldn't know for a long time that the volt area was an actual area that still exists. Based on the dialogue in the memorium, I just assumed it was completely gone, this being the only remaining bit.
2025-11-17: Going Above, Part 2

So serene...
Finding the putrid ducts was quite interesting. I found the hall to it outside of the memorium before the quest where you're intended to do so simply because I was analyzing the map for the area and I realized it was off-center. Clearly, at this point, I was already desperate to find new stuff.
2025-11-26: More Unrecorded Exploration

I did the standard Fleatopia supply run the first time.
I found a few smaller things between the last day I played and here. Most importantly, likely on this day, I used the wiki for the first time because the location of the penultimate flea was giving me great confusion. Turns out I was looking in the wrong area.
2025-11-28: The Day the Game Fucked Up, aka The Day where I was Forced to Use the Wiki
I'll go out of chronological order and put the screenshot after the post, even if it was taken before.
Ok a lot more stuffs happened and i found a lot of things. Strap in this is gonna take a while
- Thing 1: I found a new area! Well technically i figured out what was above bilewater. After going to the memorium again because "its been a while since i've been there" i noticed that the map was offset. So i was like "wait is there something to the right" and there was! A long bridge to the Putrid Ducts. I found the last bell station there and a calm lake where the flea caravan decided to settle for good. I also found a flea who mapped the other fleas (which i mostly found as of writing this, only one left!) and i found another flea in an obscure little area of greymoor after this who's useless (i already got the personal spa buddy i dont need your spa)
- Thing 2: I fixed the bench at the left part of sinner's road. Idk how i didn't notice that before but i fixed it! ...long after i really needed it
- Thing 3: I found a new connection between the citadel & the areas below through the wisp thicket. I was just randomly exploring it searching for the flea below the underworks that stumped me because I had no idea how to get down there — turns out it's that area. It's not a 3rd way up to the citadel bc the double jump is a prerequisite but it still was cool
- Thing 4: I did the quest to get the other soul items from various creatures around the land. It wasn't too hard, but hey at least i know what the thing i got after defeating bilewater was for
- Thing 5: The penultimate flea I had to find was one below the leftmost part of the putrified ducts. Turns out that this flea was in an area connected to the whispering vaults. Initially I ruled that possibility out because geographically it didn't make sense but then... i did a thing which i've been avoiding... i looked at the wiki. Yeah I was wrong, i just went around and explored until i found the right way.
- Thing 6: This is the most recent thing, from today. I went down the area i found for the penultimate flea to map it, and one wow thanks for dropping me into the parasite water but two: i found a baby. little creature was in the vines crying and i picked it up. Now i had a baby in my inventory... one that cried whenever i opened my menus. now i wanted it gone. So i went over to bell town and by sheer luck the main bug there, Pavo, knew what was up. He said go to shellwood, and i did, and so i ended up at the creature who talks about birth. I gave her the baby and yay no more baby! Then she asked me to do a sidequest and I was like yes please! ...then i was stuck without the ability to heal or change crests or apply any things. I made my way out, and i realize that this is how i get one of the two remaining crests i had yet to get. Now it was time to fix my problem. I go to birth lady and she's dead. Oops! Then i go to Pavo and he says go find the bell hermit, he'll say where you gotta go.
And this is where I run into a pretty big issue. Pavo says "find the bell hermit", but the bell hermit is too busy setting up the trap from Thing 4. So now I was stuck. Who was I supposed to go to? Where is the bell hermit? I climbed up the cradle but all I found was the guy from songclave (and a missing lace?).
I ended up looking at the wiki to find out who to talk to. Turns out its the bug northwest of greymoor. I went to them, they ask me get sticks from the guys in sinner's road, I do, and then issue cured, yay! Hornet probably experienced a lot of pain but now I have a 6th crest. Wonderful, one to go, according to the achievements. Still sucks though that I had to rely on the wiki for this one, but at least it was only a small thing.
Yeah. This was fucked up. TL;DR: One NPC in a quest was out of their normal place and unreachable, making the next step in the quest impossible to know. I guess Team Cherry didn't expect anyone to set up the trap then get cursed afterwards. (Which is weird because getting cursed results in a distinct ending...)
As far as I know, this is still a glitch! Unintended behavior! It still exists! Nothing on the Wiki says it doesn't. It kinda soured the experience a little, though it is the only time my entire playthrough where something was just straight up impossible without the wiki.

Yeouch! At least the curse is gone. But not the trauma...
2025-12-21: World Changing

Trapped! But wait, that's void?

Oh my goodness there's an Act 3.

World's fucked...

Now this was a certified epic moment! - said every gamer who saw this

Fuck you all.
ok so today i decided to hop back on the skong because its been a while. and holy shit
so first i decided "yknow what fuck it im going to defeat the final boss and ensnare it in that trap i set up." so i did. amazingly i did it first try (though this wasn't my first time with this boss), but then it was trap time. i songed instead of binded and would you looat that! Void.
so then a cutscene plays where hornet falls and then the credits play. afterwards i go back to the save file and i see... its covered in void strings. uh oh. I open up the save file (pressing A multiple times to do so) and would you look at that! its the skong post apocalypse!
when i saw the act 3 card pop up i was like no way. i was unfortunately spoiled that there was an act 3 but i had no idea what it looked like. and then i proceeded to die to the first enemies i encountered after reopening the save. oops!
so after i proceed. sherma the goated little guy saved me and then i went off to see wtf happened. i went down to the bellway and oops there's a centipede! so then i go down and proceed to die to them twice. i then defeat them by being slow and steady and woah!! the good creature the bell bug comes in for the killing blow! and they have babies! this was a certified epic moment and im happy i wasnt spoiled on it because i heard that it was put on all the thumbnails afterwards
i also cheated and looked at the wiki again to find the last flea. i found them, and i saw the bug behind the gate. the poor stag... i wanted to see an alive and happy stag...
finally i went to bellhart to see what happened there. and it's more post-apocalypse! tbh it's just really sad there now. the music is sad, the colors are washed out, and everyone's miserable. made me start to feel the same...
there is a lot i gotta see. i mean its a whole new act after all. i will share more later.
2025-12-22: Down, Down, Down

"I miss my wife, Hornet"

The world is ending? Not on my watch!

What? You're dying? noooo... ;-;

An incredible escape!
Much like the other lava escape segment, this one was really cool. And I did it first try (as far as I remember).
2025-12-24: Edgelord Trobbio

He is dark and edgy but still not that much of a threat
Honestly its kinda funny how Trobbio just becomes dark and edgy at the sight of the end of the world. Sure, IRL when the world's fucked thinking this way is serious, but idk, seeing a very outgoing, theatrical bug do it to an audience of probably nobody is quite funny. It endeared me a bit to Trobbio (though he is still far from a favorite)
2025-12-25: The Snail Shamans: "Collect our Hearts"
I got the mission to collect the Hearts of Hallownest and learned a new song to silk to. On my way to the Hunter's Heart of the East, I found this obscure little area.

You again...
To be honest, from the tiny bit of spoilers I absorbed, I thought the Green Prince would fall in love with the Second Sentinel. I was way off; the Green Prince's lover was already dead. But he's gay hell yeah :33
2026-01-18: New Year, New Worlds

Holy peak!!
Considering the Green Prince's memory was the first I explored, it gave me an inflated expectation of what the memories would be like at first. I assumed all of them would be 1-hour exploration fests around a whole new area

Aura farming in the memory

it's just like the geometry dash level Clear Cut by pquirrel,, how peak,, waow,,,
The ending for this part is one part as to why this is probably my single favorite day of playing this game after the initial hype period. The next part is to come...

Very Gay :3

Ascend to Battle!

I'm SO fucking ready to defeat the Crust King and become the girl who DESTROYED the Coral Tower first try!

...second try...
If it wasn't for the fact that I choked at the end of the Crust King, I would've beaten everything in the Coral Tower first try, no weapon refills. That probably would've been the greatest moment in my playthrough... but I'm fine with settling for almost doing it.

Well if I, a single spider, could (nearly) destroy your entire army, maybe you didn't have too much of a chance...
ok its been a really long while. i explored around a bit more but tbh i forgot exactly what i did to get here. uh i went down into the abyss 2 and saw the source of the horrifying screams! and then i went back up to get the new sidequest of "find the 3 dead bugs and get their hearts"
so i first try to go for the hunter heart because i wanna find a new area (i already knew exactly where the coral heart was), and so in doing so i stumble upon the green prince in this area off to the side of greymoor. So im like ok! this "verdania" area doesnt look too hot. glad it's the last map i gotta find according to the achievement. Then im asked to enter the prince's dream.
and woaaahhhh! it's alive! and green! and its an entirely new area! this is so exciting i am so happy that the dream equivalents in this game are this and not just the same areas but floating. so i wander around, i gather a bunch of lights (this is where i hopped back in today), and then it was time to meet the prince at his throne. and so it's boss battle time and wait a second holy peak?! it's the clockwork dancers again! except they're fleshy and they killed me like 4 times because it was my first bossfight in a month. ough. especially since it takes a minute to get to the boss arena. oh well i was happy to play peak once again :3, especially when instead of the power of machines its the power of gay that's killing you
i then got the green heart. it is not one of the hearts that's part of the quest. wtf is it for?
so then i go to the coral tower, and it's a bunch of enemy rooms. now that i'm warmed up, i pummel through them. i kill wave after wave of enemy and its so much fun and im enjoying my time so much, and i'm absofuckinglutely ready by the time i reach the boss, having died not once across all those rooms. then, so close to greatness, i die. i beat him second try but it was still sad. oh well, i still did excellent!
2026-01-19: Memories

Welcome back, Seth here
I like the fact that you can just say "ok i'll leave" to Seth. I didn't pick that option but I assume it's funny if you do

Who are you?

fuck you fuck you fuck you

plant
Nyleth took me more than 5 attempts...

This took way too long...
The Ecstasy of the end achievement also took a little while. The game with the creep I did first try. Vog's game took me a bit longer, but I managed to do it; same with the juggling minigame. When we get to matching Seth's scores is where the real struggle is, but that's later.

Ceremony Over.

Full strength. Finally.

At least you do not suddenly want to die...

The Spunky Sprinter

Race clear!

Race clear again!

fuck you fuck you fuck you fuck you
Yeah... I struggled with Karmelita even more than with Nyleth

ant
With nothing else to do, I went back to the snail shamans. Before I did their thing, I went ahead and got the final crest. Nice! I was looking for that one. Now it's time for their business.

The ritual begins

What are they doing to her??

*Something* is happening!
The one impact frame just before Hornet falls into her memory was very cool, but I didn't screenshot it...

wait...

Oh my goodness it's baby Hornet

She's adorable!!

Deepnest???

The distant village????

Herrah...

The Hive!

Now she's all grown up...

She's here too...

Hell yeah! We have HOPE!

hope.
ok today i managed to do a lot
so first of all i went ahead and found the way to the pollen heart. i went down to the side of the blasted steps to check if there was an entrance there, and no. then i went to the grand gate to see if there was anything and i found a way from it to the underworks. cool! and oh there's the way to the pollen heart cool ok. i get through the little area and then i see seth. Hi seth! oh you're guarding the shrine containing the heart? well buddy i want that heart so im gonna fucking kill you now. unfortunately he killed me twice before i did that so rip. i did figure out though that my silk gun (provided by the 12th architect thank u) goes right through his shield. note this for later. anyways i get to the shrine and i proceed to go into the statue's memory.
inside the statue was nyleth, who was just a pain to beat. i kept losing focus and i died over 5 times, which hasn't happened in a while. this flowery fuck wouldnt relent, and i found it hard to manage all the wall shenanigans that were happening (since the second half of the fight has no floor!). eventually though i did beat her and claim her heart. i didn't mention it last time but the animation when you defeat a memory boss is so cool, it is a hype moment but i mean thats after a boss is beaten so it's meant to be exciting!
so then afterwards i stop, then i hop on again in the evening. i check the quest menu and i realize wait i can just go down to the shamans and use the hearts that i have already even if i dont have the hunter's heart. interesting... ...but i wanna get the hunter's heart anyways because it'll be fun! so i go to the hunter's march because "hunter" and i find out there's an area above that one statue that leads to a bridge to a new area in the far fields. and wow! so much new stuff to see in the area i long suspected had stuff. so i proceed to exploration, and i eventually scour the whole area.
in my exploration of this area i find the most isolated area ever containing the bug who really wants to run (who i'm gonna call the spunky sprinter bc i forgor their name). anyways the spunky sprinter wants to challenge me to a race and i think sure! we can race across several rooms and itd be interesting to see what this bug will do on room transitions. turns out the course is in the big open single-room area to the right of us. that's fine — we race, and i win first try woohoo! but there's 2 more races to do... so i do the second race, and i also do it first try with a bit more stress. then i get to the third race and pull the same "dash down and go too far down, falling off the track and being 100% unable to catch up so i gotta forfeit" twice. but once i learn not to do that i win the race handily, and that's the last race so i get the prize of one of the last 4 mask shards!
now it's time to head up and actually get the heart. so i get over to the bug and enter her memory and it is the ant colosseum. in the center is a singer ant, the mother. i challenge her and proceed to pummel through the other ants easily. now it's time for the big boss, and she fucking destroys me. i go through the ant gauntlet again and she destroys me again. this happens even more times than with nyleth and at this point she's shaping up to be literally among the hardest bosses i've fought in this game according to death counts. it must've been a combo of my mid weapon choice, my inability to focus too well on low health, and her ability to somehow put a double damage attack right where i am at an exact moment. gah. it didn't help that she blocks my silk gun when seth, who has an actual shield, doesn't. but eventually, i do beat her, and claim her heart.
now it's time to go down to the shamans to progress because wtf else am i to do. i didnt mention it earlier but i completed the other flea fest stuff and got the pale oil reward. cool, now i have no more quests. so i go down there.
so i make my way down to the snails and before i let them do their thing i find they have a crest and claim it. wow! i have all 7 crests now! yippee! too bad this one has zero weapons or yellow slots and 3 silk skill slots. come on, the r1 button is so hard to reach that i never silk skill (perhaps i should bind r4 to r1 to mitigate this), and its such a damn shame because it has the second best nail movement handling aside from my goat the reaper.
anyways with that done i proceed to talk to the shamans. they see that i have an extra heart but do absolutely nothing about it so now i just have it in my inventory doing idk wtf. they then implant the other 3 hearts in hornet and sing, which causes her to ascent briefly before her shell explodes or something as she screams in what is probably a lot of pain and a lot of terror. i mean there's even an impact frame where the colors go red and black, holy
so now, we enter the Red Memory. Hornet's Memory. got damn.
I navigate the little area and enter the first door. and oh my goodness it's baby hornet!! i didnt know this game had baby hornet waow she's tiny!! and she's silking around weavers with a whole bunch of red woah! so much lore to absorb. but so little time, gotta walk my way to the next scene. woah! the next scene is in the distant village, there's a stag sign! and in there we see baby hornet sitting by herrah, who is a faint memory but distinct. then we go to the hive for her to spar with the queen, no longer baby. finally, we get to the (sawless) white palace, where she's talking with the white lady. she snaps out of her memory, realizing she isn't bound to it and then proceeds to take the thing that defeats void. damn. this whole sequence was so much to absorb, idk what to say. now, the only thing left will be to go into the depths and fucking kill the void. and also figure out what the last 13% of completion is...
2026-01-20: The Town with No Name

Kill!

That's a good variety of bugs

It's a miracle I found this place.
The way I found the Nameless Town was really funny. I had no hints to go there. I just went up to the Cradle because I was curious if there was anything back up there. And there was! There was the last Silk Skill, the only one I really used the entire playthrough. But for some reason I thought "hey there must be something else." So I launched myself up and saw a bush pattern similar to the one leading to the Wisp Thicket. I went up there and oh my gosh that's a whole area. I climbed up, and I got there.

Welcome back to Pharloom
ok, now what? at this point, all that's left to do is go down and beat the true final boss. well...
it started at bellhart, which was where i went after i finished off yesterday. i saw there was a new quest on the board, ooo! so i take it, and start tracking this bug down. they laid lots of annoying traps all over the far fields which each do 2 hearts of damage (ow), but eventually i make it over to them. i sniff the next pile of stuff to track and now i'm trapped, and so i get forced down into this bug's boss arena. and they lay more of the traps so i die quickly, and since i didnt bench before the boss i was kicked all the way to the other side of the area :neocat_floof_explode:
eventually, i make my way back, and take a much closer bench. it wasn't needed though since i handily beat this big ant boss. yippee. i then go on to the left where there's another trap and i think of how funny it'd be to see someone beat the boss then proceed to die there. oh well, i get the thing and bring it back for my reward, one of the last mask shards!
so then i look over at my map and somehow i see an unexplored room transition at the bottom part of the blasted steps. so i go there and would you look at that it's the penultimate mask shard! i cheesed a bit of the platforming in there thanks to reaper + whatever the long needle thingy was called.
after that, i look and see if there's any more unexplored room transitions. so i see there's one at the cradle, and i realize "hey, i have the infinite go up thingy, i can go there!" and so i do, and i claim the last silk skill from the leftover arm of the grand mother. waow. then i dick around the room to see if there's anything else and in the corner of my view as i launch up, i see a suspicious area. i launch up to there and oh my that's a super secret hidden area. it had some very tough platforming, but i made it up, and i saw the nameless town and got its memento. its a miracle i found this with no wiki.
2026-01-23: Places I Remember, Places I Forgot

I will remember you...

they really just yelled at anyone who dared fucking die
For the record, this is the first Whiteward screenshot. Despite the various times I found things there, it was never an area I really thought about too much.

I found where they hid the bodies :3

If covid hit the citadel they'd be fucked

Oh so *there's* where the last simple key must be used!

This room exists I guess

thats nasty

I've got hope!
2026-01-24: Hello Again My Fungal Friend

He's back!

What do you mean towers spinning

Cool I know where these are!

This too, let's go!

Hello!
2026-01-25: Goodbye Again My Fungal Friend

So that's what spinning towers meant

Never thought I'd see the Fay again!

Just me and you now...

So we back in the town

I will rember...

He will return.
at this point ive been running around just trying to find stuff.
first, i found out where my last simple key goes. yeah it was just this room in the high halls idk how i missed it. now i have a rosary gun.
next, i found mister mushroom and he said "go to my spots". so bc i had nothing better to do that's exactly what i did. first spot i assumed was some actual chapel so i went to the wayward crest one but no, i found him in the ruined chapel. second was easy, just above bone bottom's ruins. third one was a little harder, i assumed it was the marrow at first until i realized it was probably the far fields. i went down there and there he was by the bottom right corner of the map.
the fourth one was the hardest. i had no clue what towers spun or what surgeon implied so i just assumed it had something to do with whiteward. so i did way too much running around all over that area until i realized "oh wait the surgeon is yarnaby and the spinning towers are the ones in greymoor" after 1 day. so yeah i found him down there.
the last 3 i already pretty much knew by the time i solved the fourth one. 5th was the cage of the first sinner, 6th was the top of mount fay (where i found a bench right at the top which idk why is there, it seems useless; also woah the fay's back), 7th was by the surface (a pain to get to but since i got there last time i had gotten a shortcut so no platforming for me). and so i saw mr mushroom blast away.
i found it kinda funny how seriously hornet took this guy. he's just a silly mushroom guy who's everywhere.
anyways, at this point i think my only objectives left are to find the 3 remaining equipables (1 weapon, 2 blue) and the other 4 mementos. i've made it to 94% completion without significant wiki use, and i intend to get to 100% with as little wiki use as necessary.
Note: This post was technically made on the 26th but that's because I spilled over past midnight today. Not gonna label it as a separate day since it might as well just be an extension of the 25th.
2026-01-27: Enter the Final Showdown
With opportunities and ideas for exploration drying up, I decided to dive into the Abyss.

Y'know the void would make for a pretty slick pool if it didn't poison your mind

I'll make it.
I got introduced to Lost Lace. She destroyed me for almost half an hour before the next screenshot.

Phase One Down.
ok so im at a loss with literally any ideas towards where the last few things are. literally the only thing i found between last time and now was a little area in the blasted steps with 1 new enemy and a shard rock. that's it.
so after exploring around and finding absolutely nothing for far too long, i just decided fuck it lets go to the abyss. so i did, and after attempting to find more secrets down there i went ahead and got down to the true final boss.
lost lace is of course the hardest boss i've fought so far, that is to say she's the first since the last judge who has taken me more than 1 session (i.e i haven't beaten her yet) and i've only gotten to her second phase twice. yeag she is hard she goes exactly to where i am and proceeds to two hit me until i die. all the void attacks certainly dont help.
slowly tho i am getting better at the fight. hopefully soon enough i will beat it. or at least get more consistent at reaching the second phase. is there another phase after that? idk! i will have to find out next time...
2026-01-28: A Big Surprise

Lace is Saved!

Time to escape.

Wait... But we must live...

IS THAT THE KNIGHT???

She's free now...

Hell yeah it's my bug the Skrill!! Shoutouts to the Skrill, such a chill fellow!

94%. 2 wiki uses.

Yuri
ok yay i beat lost lace yay, it really only took 3 more attempts after i hopped back on, because i actually focused and stopped being too greedy with my attacks/too focused on my health
now for my thoughts on the end cutscenes!
first. wow hornet really went to the depths of the world to save lace. they really were doing a lebbeans :3
second. what the fuck!? the knight!? the knight from the original hollow knight!? whaaaaaaaaa :neocat_floof_explode:
i did not expect it to be here what the fuck!? and hornet saw it flash into its true void form for a moment!?!?
finally. its really funny that the surface crawler bug is literally one of very few characters in these games to be officially animated in a cutscene. but ok i guess mr mushroom will be a staple of all of team cherry's games then
so after doing all that i have managed to reach the true ending pretty much all on my own (see my previous skongposts for full context of instances where i used the wiki, but to summarize it was twice to find fleas and once to progress through the yarnaby sequence due to an oversight with the game), and wow. this game is peak. it really was exactly what i wanted. better than the original? i'd say yes! there are so much more systems to have fun with, so much more areas to explore, so much more bosses to fight; and it's all just as good if not better than the original. hell yeah! i loved my time with silksong. but i still have 6% of game completion to go, so there's one thing i ask of you, the reader...
...so I'm at 94% game completion now and i managed to reach this point while using the wiki as little as possible. My question is the following: Should I bite the bullet and use the wiki to find the last remaining things, or should I continue searching on my own to try to make it to 100% without any further wiki use? Either way, if you know about where something is, I would appreciate being given a hint (even if it's something i've already found)
I put a poll on this post to get a community choice, but nobody voted. I thus sat on my save file for a month as I debated whether or not I wanted to use the wiki or not. For now, though, I was done.
2026-03-04: Tying Up Loose Ends
At this point, I decided to start using the Wiki. My first question was how to get the last weapon. So, I looked at the first weapon I didn't recognize on the Wiki page and went...

Oh Hi Seth!

Tragedy...
I found the weapon I was looking for in the Far Fields. But it wasn't the last weapon, merely an upgrade for one of them. What gives? I kept looking...
2026-03-05: The Last Bosses

Are you kidding me.
This is when I found the bench that would've made the boss fight in Bilewater 10x less painful!

Wait, it's real? Not just a Memorium thing?

Old guy down.
This was the last boss I had to defeat. Honestly fits in with something that I haven't mentioned before but which I like to call "The Ghost Ending," where something ends not with a big grandiose final fight but with a quiet, more thoughtful, possibly more "spiritual" ending. It fits in a lot more situations than you'd expect. (probably because thats just how death by anything other than accidents are in real life)
after a month i decided to once again play some more silksong, finally tying up all those loose ends of the last few percent of completion. since i can't be assed to explore for 2 years to find everything i ultimately decided to look at the wiki to try and find things.
the first thing i did was look and see how to get the last tool i missed. so i look at the wiki and ok it's this circular version of the boomerang. cool. so i go get and im like nice. but wait thats an upgrade to my tool not a new tool. so then i look at the wiki again and realize in horror that it is the wisp thicket tool, the one which i found long ago but didnt want to use the craftmetal for. so now i am wandering looking for that last damn rock
in the meantime i found seth. not guardian seth, explorer seth. from glaring at maps i'll meet him more later but rn i only saw him at greymoor.
today i went around looking for more things. i actually got to like 99% of rooms on my own which is cool! but then i get to bilewater and find out that in an obscure corner behind a barely visible breakable wall there's a section with a bench. near the top of bilewater. had i known about this before it wouldn't have been nearly as painful. ouch. mississippi causes me pain once more
then i looked at the sands of karak and yep. i missed 2 areas there. The first was in the top center, the voltnest. i recognized it from the memorium and that's cool! i thought it was just completely gone. i defeat the miniboss first try and get the material entry and go. The second was near the left, and it had this old af bug who i thought was dead at first. nope. alive. then i died! then i died again! and then i destroyed them. yay. grey memento.
i shall continue my search for the last rock...
2026-03-06: 100%

They wanna leave this place (just like me fr)

Edge of the World
Some point before this, I got the last Mask Shard in Brightvein, in Mount Fay.

The last silk spool...

Seth is British

Hello again, I sure hope that you don't cause me pain by making me do the minigames again but with way higher score thresholds

lmao i already destroyed him in Flea Bounce

The last weapon...
My realization that the Pimpillo was the last weapon I needed was quite funny. I thought I already got it seeing as I visited the area way before, but it turns out I didn't. When I realized this, I felt dumb.

100% achieved.
well, i did it. i achieved 100%. it's not over yet, i still have a few things left to find, but first, the last things i needed.
I suspected i missed a few rooms in Mount Fay, and I did; at this point, these were probably some of the last significant rooms i missed. So i first went up in the middle of the mountain and I found Brightvein, a short platforming challenge but one which got me the final mask shard. yes! 10 health! (and also the last materium entry) Then, i went to the southwest of the mountain and found a similar space. This one had the last blue tool i needed. One to go.
Then i did a global search for missing rooms. Most of the rooms i missed were small, but had things to offer. I missed a small area with a relic under Weavenest Cindril. I also found a tiny area in bone bottom which had... the last silk spool. I can double bind now yay! There were also various tiny alcoves with very little and paths which i learned are only in steel soul.
I also went down to Eva to see if she had anything, and she wanted to be absorbed into me. So I did, and now I regen silk at benches. Cool. That was the extra progress point I didn't know!
So now, at 99%, all that was left was to find the last damn craftmetal to make the last tool. So I looked up the craftmetal location descriptions and got baited by going to the room where it was but not finding it at first because I didnt look at the location images, only the map marks. So that took me a lot of running around, but eventually I got it and I claimed my prize, the final tool in the isolated wisp thicket area. And the tool turned out to be grenades. waow. And thus, I reached 100%.
Only three things left to do: Get the last relic, Find the final 2 mementos, and complete the bestiary.
Note: This post is the same story as the one on January 26th.
2026-03-07: Let's Crush Seth!

Yeah, That I got for you!

NOOOOOOOO

That was a great run but wtf...

Ok I did it, yay!

One last goodbye, Sherma.
today i almost did everything. almost. just one thing to go and that's getting every bestiary entry. but before that...
The first thing I did today was find the last relic. It was a weaver effigy in some obscure area on the bottom left of the bone bottom drop. Probably would've never found it on my own, thanks wiki. Then the relic keeper does not give me credit grrr
So then it was time to find the last 2 mementos. I suspected one had to do with Seth and yeag it did. Just had to beat his high scores in the flea games. I already beat one of his scores, leaving flea dodge and flea juggle. Flea dodge took a bit, but I got there. Now flea juggle was fucked up, because i had a record of 35 while he had 55. So I had to learn how to really flea juggle. And so, I did. I played it over and over and over again, wanting to snap my steam deck in half as i kept making stupid mistakes that cascaded into failure. Hell, I even got 54 once (though I was happy with that; the snap in half ones were when I got consecutive scores in the 20s). But eventually, I learned that swinging sideways is a good idea, and i focused enough to win. (and also that despite everything, beast crest still isn't good enough). So yay! Seth's memento.
So, I suspected that the only memento left would be completing the bestiary. I had 3 enemies left to find. Two of them were the shitwater maggots and the sand worm hazards, which i could easily grenade to kill. (I thought you'd find an environmental plack that gave you the entry, like the Goam from the original). The third and last unseen entry was this bug in the wormways. They. Wouldnt. Fucking. Die. I kept killing them for like 10 minutes in silence, and they just didnt die. The plasmium gave them 100 billion health. I dont think they were even at half health when i first thought "why wont you die already!?"
After killing them, i went to Nuu. No memento. I suspect i gotta complete all entries, so that is what I will do.
More onn Plasmified Zango. That boss fight was fucked up. It legitimately felt like I spent 20 minutes trying to kill him. I was nervous and on edge like 5 minutes in, but somehow I managed to kill him from full health by just going at him for all that time and not dying. Of course, reading the wiki page I just now realize that there's a much faster way to deal with him. I'm annoyed, but oh well.
(also, i know he probably counts as a boss, making the final bosses section wrong but shhhhhh his fight design is much different so very technically he can be considered something different)
One last time as well, this is the same story as yesterday with the post.
2026-03-09: Finishing Up

Just a bit to go.
I spent the first part of this session wandering around and killing many of the last enemies to get their bestiary entries. The most tedious was the Puny Penitent, since I needed like 5 of them but there's exactly one that infinitely spawns.

It's done.

I collected the knowledge, and you learned.

The Memento!

Maybe we'll see eachother again one day too...

Goodbye Nuu...

All 8 Mementos.

Hornet can eep for real now.
welp. i did it. i finished up the hunter's journal. i ran around for quite a while finding every enemy i didn't complete, and while it was quite tedious at times (i had a lot of enemies with a good number of kills left, meaning i had to go bench, kill like 2 of them, then bench again and repeat until i filled the entry), i eventually got through. fittingly, the last enemy i had to complete is the judge, which is funny because the last judge is a boss, but the last regular judge was the last enemy i had to kill to complete the journal. (also, it is kinda funny how hornet, after watching the underworks, starts to question her society. pharloom gave her the woke :neocat_googly_woozy: )
so i hopped over my way to nuu and was happy that i finished, but also a bit sad. nuu congratulated me, gave me the final memento, and has left, seemingly forever. so off on my way i went, over back to my home in bellhart to drop off my last memento. i got there, dropped it off, then let hornet have a good, long sleep.
...and then i realized. wait a minute. i forgot to get one (1) memory locket. ah fuck
so i went around exploring again with the wiki to see which was the one i missed. it was in the underworks behind the window by the pay benches under whiteward. oops! but at least that was the only one i missed. too bad i went to like 5 other possible locations before that one...
so, with every crest upgraded (unnecessarily, since i always stick with reaper), i could now let hornet take her nice, long rest.
that is, of course, until i gotta kill lost lace again for the achievement. another day. and perhaps that will be my final silkpost.
but before then, i think this marks the moment where my blindness embargo comes to an end. i've experienced everything, so there's no need to keep spoiler free anymore. now i will finally see what the world of silksong speedruns and modding looks like!
2026-03-15: The End

Time to claim my prize...

It's over.
With that, the screenshots end. Before we get to the last silkpost, here's one from March 13th:
i saw speedy silksong gameplay for the first time today and wtf. why is the movement so goofy why is constantly jumping and downslashing the fastest way to move
Now for the last Silkpost.
Welp, I beat the final boss again. With that, I think I'm done with Silksong for now.
I planned on making a quick review when I reached this point, so here it is. Overall, this easily has to be one of my favorite games of all time, simply because I feel it surpasses the original, a game which I already felt as one of my favorites of all time. Just the sheer number of things to find and fight and discover is incredible, and the fact that they are all so well designed is amazing. And while the difficulty is definitely upped quite high here, it never felt unfair. I was always able to slowly observe and learn each boss's patterns to get more and more consistent. I recognize that I do have some small issues with the game, but they amount to basically nitpicks. In short, it is absolute peam.
I plan to compile all my silkposts into one big blog post that I will put on my site. I'll probably put a more thorough review that mentions specific things there.
Conclusion, and a Review
Welp, here we are. As promised, I will go on with my more detailed review of Silksong.
Silksong was the great adventure I had waited for. Although personally I only waited 4 years between my playthrough of the original Hollow Knight and Silksong's release, this was still an extremely long wait, rivaled only by the 6 years between when I started playing Geometry Dash and 2.2's release. Despite Hollow Knight not being my focus in that time, the wait was felt, but it was worth it.
The time spent crafting Silksong was well worth it. It surpasses the original game in almost every way. For me personally, it is almost flawless. It was as if the game was designed for me, from its focus on exploration, its increased challenge matching my ability, to even just the simple fact that you play as a cool ass bug woman.
Sure, it does feel a bit slow until you get the run ability, and there was the issue with the Bell Hermit not showing up when needed when I got cursed and set up the trap beforehand, but aside from nitpicks like those my experience was smooth and wonderful.
And thinking back on the adventure is great, too. Reliving every boss, every obscure secret I found all on my own, every success, was amazing. Silksong helped in a period where I otherwise felt like I was choking on real world responsibilities, and for that, plus being an experience that lasted me 6 months, I value this game greatly.
This has become my single favorite non-online game. It surpasses the original Hollow Knight and my excellent experience with Bug Fables too. Only the likes of the evergreen Geometry Dash and probably Beatblock surpass it.
Assembling this blog post took me far longer than any other I've made so far. It took 2 months for me to painstakingly write down all the captions and alt text for all 253 screenshots present here. But I think it was worth it.
I hope that this does not go unappreciated, and I hope that the reader enjoyed looking through all of this stuff that has probably been seen before many times at this point.
May we see eachother again some day.
(Probably soon, I'm gonna be hopping on the Silksong DLC day 1.)
